Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Effective Date of My Policy?
The first payroll after they process your desired protection and allotment form. Usually, it’s the next pay period. If done via bank draft, the effective date will be when they process your application.
Will This Policy Pay in Addition to PTO?
Yes. After meeting the elimination period requirement, this will pay regardless of PTO use.
What if I Get Hurt On the Job … Will this Policy Pay?
This policy pays in addition to any other insurance, 50% (of the benefit) if Worker’s Compensation or similar law pays
What Does the Elimination Period Mean?
This is the period of time you must be disabled (and not working) before the policy starts paying you. A 14/14 Elimination Period means that you must be disabled 14 days with a sickness or 14 days from an accident before the policy starts paying. For Example: You injure your spine in a car accident today and cannot work for 2 1/2 months. Your policy immediately kicks in the 1st day you miss work. However, it (with a 14/14 Elimination Period) would not start paying benefits until the 15th day.
Can I Cancel?
Yes. This policy is totally voluntary and can be cancelled at anytime. Please contact us if you need to cancel your policy and we will be glad to help you. Please note: only you can cancel/modify your policy/allotment (your agent has no authority to make any changes).
How Do I File a Claim?
Are Deductions Done Via Allotments?
Yes, deductions are made via your payroll allotments (added via the Postal Ease system). A Bank Draft Plan is available for participants with no allotment slots available.
Do I Have to Use Postal Ease?
Yes, as mentioned previously, deductions are made via your payroll allotments (added via the Postal Ease system) unless you’ve decided to use a bank draft. To activate your policy, you must add the deduction to one of your Postal Ease allotment slots.
